What is Angamardana?

Angamardana is a system rooted in yoga that offers to everyone the opportunity to invigorate the body and to reach peak physical and mental health. “Angamardana” means gaining complete mastery over the limbs, organs and other parts of the body. This practice revitalizes the body on all levels including the muscles, blood circulation, skeletal structure, nervous system, and the basic energy system. It strengthens the spine, builds physical strength, fitness and tenacity, taking years off the body. Designed by Sadhguru, Isha Angamardana needs no fitness equipment. It involves only the body and floor exercises that can be practiced anywhere, even during travel.

Angamardana builds a different level of strength. This is not about building muscles but about strengthening the ligaments. Once you strengthen them, they will keep you in good stead for a lifetime.

Whether you want to run up a mountain, sit absorbed in meditation or work continuously and stay focused - Angamardana can deliver true fitness. Angamardana is about strengthening the mind and cultivating the energy system, therefore allowing you to take your body far beyond the capacity offered by common forms of exercise.

Program Structure

The Angamardana Workshop consists of 3 sessions, all of which are 3.5 hours each. All of these sessions are mandatory in order to learn the practice. The session timings are as follows:

  • Session 1 ~ Saturday 28th August: 8:30am - 12:30pm

  • Session 2 ~ Saturday 28th August 5:00pm - 8pm

  • Session 3 ~ Sunday 29th August: 9am - 12:30pm

  • All sessions are mandatory

After the Workshop

After the workshop you will be fully equipped to practice Angamardana at home. It is a comprehensive practice which could take over one hour after you first learn it. With continuous practice this time can come down to as little as 30 minutes. You will be able to contact us at anytime after the program via email or WhatsApp if you have any questions about the practice.

Venue

The workshop will take place in Lostock, Bolton. The closest train station is Lostock if you are coming via public transport which is on the mainline from Manchester city centre. Trains are rather infrequent to Lostock however. Trains to Bolton station are much more frequent and would require a 10 minute taxi ride to the venue. If you are coming via car there is sufficient parking outside of the venue in the drive-way.

Who is it suitable for?

Pregnant women, people with serious back disease and active abdominal hernia should not practice Angamardana. Those who are currently injured, have any artificial joint replacement, or any heart disorders should consult a Doctor before practicing. If you have any concerns, please contact us first.

Angamardana can be practiced by anyone over the age of 8 years old. It is suitable for those with all levels of experience, from complete beginners to advanced practitioners of Yoga. The program is taught step-by-step with detailed instructions.

Program Guidelines

The minimum age to attend this program is 8 years old.

Please come on an empty stomach condition: Finish a meal 4 hours prior to the class, snack 2.5 hours prior, beverage or cigarette 1.5 hours before the class.

Origins of Angamardana

Angamardana is deeply rooted in the ancient yogic sciences (along with Kalaripayattu – known as the mother of all modern martial arts) and has been used by yogis through the millennia to prepare for intense sadhana (spiritual practice) to help them reach their ultimate goal.
